2 months after my Mother,Joy Cartwright Barnett passed away 3/11/1999 Roger took care of me,Josh, and my daughter Meredith. I had to have 2 sugeries 2 weeks apart due to Cancer cells.He took me to Bardstown to the Hospital to have the surgery,and stayed to make sure I was okay.He would visit me, while taking care of both kids. Making sure they got on the bus to go to school, and being there when they got home. After the 2nd sugery I had to stay in bed for 2 1/2 weeks. I stayed with him in my Mom's (old)bedroom.He had the room all ready for me when I got out.He picked me up from the hospital and took me to his home.He already had food for me, and would ask several times a day if I wanted anything special to eat.Roger's way of taking care of you was so comforting.He spoiled all of us by the nice and out of the way things he did for us. He would cook the kids breakfast and make sure they got on the bus.In the afternoon he would be there If I needed him or not making sure that we had everything we needed, or wanted.He would always cook dinner or take the kids out to eat and bring me back something if I wanted. After 2 weeks of him taking care of me I told him that I thought I could go home, but he wanted me to stay a couple of more days just to make sure I could do the things I needed. After almost 3 weeks I went home.He had washed all our clothes, fixed us food to take with us and drove me to my apartment in Radcliff.Before he would leave he made sure that everything was okay, and i had groceries to last us for a week. He told me to call him if I needed anything, and if I wanted to I could always come back to his house.After a hug,a kiss,and the usual I love you he went back to his house. Roger was always there for me.In good or bad he would always be there to help in any way possible. I will alway remember the things he did for me, and my family.His Love was enough, but he gave me so much more. Thank you would not be enough for all that he did.I love him like a father.He will forever be with me in my heart.
